Florida International University, also known as FIU, is one of the most famous and accredited Universities in the USA, known mostly for the large research projects launched by professors and researchers. It is located in Miami and is the first public University in the area.

It opened in 1972 featuring 5,600 students at the time. That is a record for American standards, as it boasted the largest opening day enrolment in the educational history of the country. Since then, though, it grew dramatically, featuring more than 35,000 students and more than 130,000 alumni. It is considered to be one of the 20 biggest universities in the country. It is also the fastest growing educational venue in the US.

Florida International University employees also hold a record, as the 96% of them hold a PHD diploma or the highest possible diploma and rate at their field of expertise. It is not accidental that the University focuses on researches and studies, being a pioneer in many fields. It sponsors numerous projects and the amount of grants given is estimated around 100 million dollars per year. The university stands out for one additional reason: it is ranked first among all universities in the US awarding PHD and MS degrees to Latinos and Hispanic students.

The Florida International University offers approximately 200 academic programs, among which Bachelor degrees in Law, Arts, theatre, Speech Communication, Journalism, Medicine, Sciences and more. 76 programs are BC (baccalaureate) while 90 programs give master’s degrees. There are 30 PHD programs and three specialist programs. The student/teacher ratio is 25 to 1, which is among the best in the country.
