Taipei – An Eastern Urban Center

Taipei is the capital of Taiwan, an island in the eastern part of Asia. The city is small, but there are about 2.5 million souls living in Taipei, with an average density of almost 10000 people / km2. It is located in the northern part of the country, in Taipei Basin. Like in other eastern countries, the 20th and 21st century has brought changes to the country, visible in the whole country, but especially in the capital city. Skyscrapers, extravagant hotels and big parks combined with local art, sculpture and architecture make it very beautiful and attractive to tourists.

If you want to visit a city in eastern Asia, Taipei is a great choice. You can find a great variety of food, and do exciting activities, or you can go to many festivals. You can visit National Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, National Palace Museum or religious monuments. There are many Buddhist and Taoist temples, that have a similar architecture with other old buildings in southern China, but if you want something more modern, you can always visit Taipei 101, which was once the tallest building in the world.

The weather is warm, but with high humidity and occasionally you can experience the typhoon. If the weather is fine though, you can always visit a night market, like the Shilin Night Market, Ximending, or the Underground Market.

From an economic point of view, the city is the fastest growing city in the Taiwan and has been at the center of the rapid economic development of the country. Its economy is based on industry (production of textiles and manufacturing electronic components), services related to transport and banking. Tourism is also a part of the economy that brings its contribution.

Taipei is a great city, created with the efficient use of the resources, and the development of new fields of activities.
