I would love to stay on Tristan for a while.. Do not now how long that would be. I met Yachties (I am harbour captain of Trans-Ocean Port Elizabeth) talking about their stay. Spoke to Hams on the radio. It must be a beautiful life with limited stress. Well, the rat race is still with me…

I wouldn’t quite say it’s an island of death. Yes there is a volcano but I was reading earlier that there was an eruption in 1961 and all the islands population was evacuated and safefly returned later.

There is an error in this article. The volcano on Tristan da Cunha is actually over 6,000 feet (2,000 meters) high. The summit is covered in snow during the winter. The author may have seen a map marking meters in elevations and didn’t realize it.

This is an island of death, when valcano erupt in the future all the residents there would have zero chance to survived. This is an ideal island to build an international prison, to house the extreme criminals, you can’t get any better isolation than this, and there is no escaping either.
